What Is Book Cover Design?

Book cover design is the creation of the artwork, title lettering and layout on the outside of a book. Readers often notice the cover before the reviews or the summary, so it has to show the genre, set the mood and make the title readable at a glance, whether on a shelf or as a small online thumbnail.

  • Imagery chosen to fit the title and subject
  • Lettering readable at thumbnail size
  • Color mode matched to eBook or print

Questions About Our Covers

What is book cover design?

Book cover design is the creation of the artwork, title lettering and layout on the outside of a book. A good cover shows the genre, sets the mood and keeps the title readable, both on a store shelf and as a small thumbnail in an online bookstore.

How much does book cover design cost?

Covers are quoted per project. A refresh of an existing cover costs less than a new illustrated design with several concepts. Send the title, subject and any ideas, and we email a fixed price and delivery date before the design work begins.

Can you design both eBook and print covers?

Yes. We prepare eBook covers in RGB color, which suits screens, and print covers in CMYK color, which keeps the printed result vivid. Tell us which versions you need and we set up each file correctly for its use.

Can you convert my old cover to vector?

Yes. If your cover exists only as a JPG or PNG, we redraw it as vector artwork so it stays sharp when printed or enlarged. The vector file can then be edited, resized and reused without the pixelation that raster images show.

Will I see more than one concept?

Yes. For a new creative cover we prepare several design suggestions based on your ideas. You choose the direction you prefer, and we refine it into the final cover, using your two free revision rounds for any last changes.

Do I own the cover design after publishing?

On request, full ownership of the final cover files is transferred to you once payment is made. You can then upload the cover to any self-publishing or print platform, reuse it for audiobook or series editions, and let a future designer adjust it for a new edition.

How do I order and pay for a cover?

Send the book details through the form. We review them and email an exact quote with the delivery date. Payment by PayPal, Visa or Mastercard starts the design. Every cover includes 2 free revisions, and our 100% money-back guarantee applies if the design misses your brief.
