What Is Scan to Vector Conversion?

A scanner captures everything on the glass: the artwork, the texture of the paper, dust, staples and the shadow along a fold. The result is a raster file that is fine on screen but poor for printing or editing. Conversion keeps only the content you need and rebuilds it as vector shapes, so the scanned piece becomes a clean digital original.

Scanned files are handled under raster to vector conversion, part of our image to vector conversion service. If you only have a phone photo instead of a scan, use snapshot conversion; for legacy BMP or TIFF files, see bitmap conversion.

Why Clients Send Their Scans Here

Content, not paper

We separate the artwork from paper texture, dust and folds, so nothing from the scanner bed ends up in your file.

Faint lines recovered

Light pencil or worn print is redrawn at an even, deliberate weight instead of being lost or blotched.

Straight and true

Skewed pages are aligned, and rectangles, frames and rules are squared up.

  • Even, printable line weight
  • Straight, square layout

An Archived Print Turned Into a Digital Master

Scan → master

Example: an office has a scanned copy of an old printed seal and letterhead graphic, slightly crooked and gray, and needs a clean file for new stationery.

The brief
Straighten the scan, remove the gray background and specks, and rebuild the seal and graphic at full sharpness.
What we do
An artist redraws the seal ring, lettering and graphic as vector shapes, aligns everything to the page and sets one clean ink color.
What you receive
AI and EPS masters, a vector PDF for the printer, an SVG and a transparent PNG for documents.

Scan to Vector Conversion Questions

What is scan to vector conversion?

It means taking an image produced by a scanner, such as a drawing, printed graphic or document page, and redrawing its content as vector artwork. Paper texture, dust and background tone are left out, and the result is a clean, scalable file you can edit and print at any size.

How much does scan to vector conversion cost?

It starts at $7 per image for a clear scan of simple artwork. Faint or low-resolution scans, crowded pages and highly detailed graphics need more time and are quoted higher. We review the scan, email an exact price, and begin once payment is made.

Which scan settings should I use?

Scan in color or grayscale at 300 to 600 dpi, keep the paper flat against the glass and save as TIFF or PNG if your scanner allows it. Higher resolution helps with small text and fine lines. If you have already scanned at a lower setting, send it and we will check it.

Can you convert text from a scanned page?

Yes, as part of the artwork. Headings, labels and short text in logos, seals or forms can be matched to a font and kept editable, or redrawn as shapes if the lettering is custom. For long passages of body text, a typed document is usually more practical than vector conversion.

Is a phone photo as good as a scan?

A scan is better, because it is flat, evenly lit and has no perspective distortion. A sharp phone photo taken straight on can still work for simple artwork. If a photo is all you have, our snapshot service is designed for that, and we will tell you which option fits.

Which formats are delivered, and who owns them?

Orders include AI, EPS, SVG, vector PDF and PNG. Full ownership of the final files is transferred to you after payment whenever you request it. Two free revisions are included, and a 100% money-back guarantee covers the work.
